Ted Stevens was indicted on 7 sounds of bribery/fraud/corruption yesterday as a result of an FBI probe. Mr. Stevens, that brilliant Senator who once declared the Internet was a complex “series of tubes” ironically did not get booted from office for being incompetent. Clearly, competence is not a prerequisite to holding high office.
But taking bribes from someone who has already plead guilty to bribing certainly does not look good for the aged Senator. But it looks good for the Senate. We don’t need people in office who take bribes, especially bribes from oil companies. How much is enough, dear Senator? And, I must ask, was it worth it?

Today I received a barrage of emails from someone who just wanted to poke fun at me for some reason. Every email contained some “buried” story about scientists who don’t believe in global warming.
The problem with global warming is that the name is wrong. Global liver damage is more like it. We humans are some nasty creatures that are constantly drilling oil, spilling oil and burning oil. Besides that, we dump inconceivable amounts of poison into our water systems. We have a big problem with pollution and it is harming the planet.
Fine, you don’t like Al Gore. His house is big and he didn’t commit suicide because the election was wrestled from him (uh, Al, Leiberman didn’t help.) But what I always hear from the horse blinder wearing numb nuts with Elephant voting cards is that Gore has an agenda, he’s got it all wrong.. blah blah….Got it!
I just have to ask, do you think the Dust Bowl was an urban legend? People actually laugh at the possibility of human behavior causing climate change. Nah! That’s silly. People are small.
It’s there in the history books but if we try hard enough, the horse blinders might keep us from harm.

That guy has a brass sac alright.
He was correct in his assertion, however, that the Democratic Congress has failed to act. That’s mostly true. But the “action” Bush is calling for involves lifting a ban on oil exploration in our nation’s Coastal areas. That’s not action, that’s just another giveaway to the oil companies.
Let’s just suppose that Exxon is given the right to drill off the Charleston, SC coast. Let’s say they even strike it big. How will this help Americans? In 10 years from now, they might start to bring some oil to the US market. Will Exxon cut the American citizens in on their profits when they start getting a return on their investment? Uh, gee…NO.
But, dang, Congress. It’s all yer fault.

I only say joke because it was presented as a joke. However, jokes are meant to be funny. This definitely is not. And it’s a reminder of why I no longer live in that small town in West TN.
Here’s the “joke”:
Barrack O’bama died and went to heaven. He was greeted by St. Peter who asked, “Who are you?”.
O’Bama replied, “I’m Barrack O’Bama. I was president of the United States for 20 minutes.”
So my reply to this right wing nutbag: “That sounds like something Hillary would say.”

I just heard about some people in Alabama defacing some Obama signs by adding a “G” to the sign – GO’Bama.
Now that’s irony.
