62-year-old Zheng Xiao, the former head of China’s equivalent to the FDA, was executed on Tuesday for accepting bribes and approving at least six fake medicines, one of which was linked to 10 deaths.
Does this have anything to do with the poisonous dog food and tainted toothpaste they sold to U.S. manufacturers? Is that problem solved? Nope, it’s worse than imagined. And someone who might have had the chance to reveal the level of corruption even further is dead.

W, the president, pulled out his executive privilege card today, waved it in front of Congress, took the ball and went home, muttering something about “screw you guys…”
It looks like Congress might keep insisting on some documentation regarding the firing of non-Republican attorneys until the courts have to decide, 5-4, that Sara M. Taylor and Harriet Miers don’t have to testify under oath. Documents won’t have to be turned over and emails will not have to be produced. And this time, the Executive Branch just might listen to the courts.

Ah, yes, getting drunk and trying to outrun a heard of bulls…sounds like fun! Two people were “gored” and 8 others injured as the world famous daredevil festival finished the second day of festivities yesterday. “Running of the bulls” might not be the best translation. “Running from the bulls” might be more appropriate.
Pamplona is a wonderful place to visit and is one of the most charming places I have ever seen. The streets are cobblestone, the people are friendly and spirited, and the weather is beautiful. Several veterans of the event have all but begged me to attend the running, but I have always passed on the invite. There’s something about crowds of drunks mixed with large bovine that doesn’t fit well with my life plans.

For all those pundits that are on our publicly owned airwaves spewing about how the Libby commute by Big G is going to be the tipping point of his legacy, quit wasting our time! After the multiple torture scandals, going to war against international law, spying on citizens and lying about it, Enron, Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay, ignoring the 9/11 commission, Hurricane Katrina and losing billions of dollars and stockpiles of weapons in Iraq – after all that and much more – giving Libby a free pass is going to be the tipping point?
Don’t be stupid. And quit wiping your stupid on the rest of us.
George doesn’t really care about those things, he doesn’t acknowledge them! He thinks he is doing the right thing and it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks. That’s his legacy. And we have a bunch of complicit lawmakers on both sides of the isle that are too busy raising money for their own legacy to do anything about it. And they’re chicken.
