A New Season

Yes, the time is here.  After sitting back and enduring the political crap for the last couple of years, we’re back into the Presidential race.  And I love me some presidential political schtuff.

So the Republicans have narrowed down their list to the Newt and Romney.  And they are seemingly tied.  Romney will apparently say anything he needs to say to be president.  If he has made one thing clear, it’s that he really wants to be president.  Newt, on the other hand, is like a stray dog and will just do or say anything, period.  He has a history of cheating on his wives, being reprimanded by House colleagues and being an all around asshole-ish kinda guy.

Obama is vulnerable right now.  His policies are largely center-right and he has alienated much of his base.  It would have been nice for a smart, successful moderate like John Huntsman to give him a real challenge.  But right now, he can run his campaign on simply not being Newt or not being Romney – and that will simply give us more of the same ol crap.

Disgusted

After the past few months of healthcare “debate” and the latest threats (and acts) of voilence by protesters of government, I’m just disgusted. I am amazed at how Fox news seems dismissive of violence as if some of our country’s leaders “deserve it”. But mostly, there is just a flat denial or a blame-the-victim approach to their rebuttal.

I think this country is great in that everyone has a right to free speech but threats of violence and acts of violence are illegal and those that practice this behavior should be arrested.

Our elected leaders are our elected leaders. There are lots of measurements in place to ensure that leaders constantly face the voters to stay in power. It is NOT within our Constitutional rights to threaten and intimidate, with the help of media, any leader that does not do what a certain group within our society wishes.

If these big mouthed bullies really want violence, they are likely to get it. And just like any big mouthed bully that starts a school yard fight or, say, a war – the end is not going to be a quick and painless removal of the “enemy”, it is not going to be pretty at all.

Advertisers Drop Glen Beck – Finally

Several reports have surfaced describing the evacuation of advertisers from the Glen Beck show. In case you were under a rock, Beck recently accused Obama of being a racist. Geez. Obama a racist? It is about time that advertisers were held accountable to these ridiculous assertions.

Obama is being called many things these days in his effort to get healthcare reform passed. The Nazi signs are an amazing breach of sensibility. The absurdity is best depicted by the woman who accused Barney Frank of supporting Nazi policies. Nazi policies? And I loved Frank’s reply, “Talking to you would be like having a conversation with my dining room table.” Wake up, lady. Barney Frank is a Jew.

Free speech is great. People deserve the right to say what they want. But just because they say it does not mean it deserves attention or respect. Dial up the dialog, folks. Keep up the stupidity and we’ll end up with a Sarah Palin in the Whitehouse. Didn’t we learn that lesson from George Bush?

Cheney Asked for CIA Secrecy

Apparently Dick Cheney asked the CIA to withhold information about a counterterrorism program some 8 years ago. Surprise surprise.

What is most amazing is that the reason for keeping the program secret was because it had not developed to the point that they believed merited a congressional briefing, according to the USA today.

Let me get this straight. In 8 years, this program did not evolve into something of significance? This was a “minor” program that existed for 8 years but it was really too small to need all that messy oversight? History indicates that Dick doesn’t go lightly. Chances are that this program was just as active and just as big as any other effort that Dick made. The king of secrecy certainly has never admitted to wrong doing and will not on this occasion either.

Of course this doesn’t keep Pelosi from being an idiot. But she was right about one thing – the CIA withheld relevant information from Congress. And Cheney was behind this effort to withhold information.

Bush Criticizes Obama Policies Confirming Obama On Right Track

Today former President George W. Bush criticized Obama’s policies.  This can only mean one thing: Obama is on the right track.

Like a broken record repeating the mantra of “tax cuts”, Dubya said, “You can spend your money better than the government can spend your money.”  Uh, right Mr. Former President, that’s probably why you went on a giant spending spree that, well, got us in this mess that Obama is trying to repair.

Oh, yeah.  You are only talking about people who live off of their money’s interest and don’t actually work. Yeah, taxing those guys would be un-Bushlike indeed.

The timing couldn’t be better for Obama.  While he is facing a bit of opposition from both sides of the isle, I’m sure he appreciates the comments of George Bush.  Just do the opposite of Bizarro President and all should be well.

Oh, yeah, he did clarify one thing about Cheney, “At least when my vice president shot somebody, it was an accident.”  Ahh, good times.
